Jenny Holzer

Since the 1970's, Holzer's use of linguistics has been the primary focus in her artwork, making profound statements and slogans through vehicles commonly used in advertising, such as electric billboards, LED and xenon projections and TV commercials. These simple declarative sentences, usually in capital letters, appear anonymously in urban spaces containing surprising, startling, unprotected and often not too pleasant messages of political, social and cultural content. Holzer's ability to transform statements on topical subject matters such as war, violence, racism and death into an aesthetic presence is well amazing!
