they do say it takes all kinds...but there are some weirdo's about! like these two! myself and nimbo emerged from the port house to be greeted by men dressed head to toe in well shiny tights. it was simply terrifying. seriously. the port house is really really dark, it's downstairs and completely candle lit and resembles a cave. so when you come outside into the light, you are a little confused, this pair just added to the confusion. plus of course because they were in masks, that gave them an excuse to be twats. yup, big hard funny men...wearing tights.

my sister is simply one of the coolest people i know. there is no explanation for it, but when you meet her, you just know, she's something special. she has also volunteered to yet again be a subject in one of my art projects, but i'll tell you more about that later

Sophie Calle

He loves me not

What do you do when your boyfriend dumps you by email? cry? lash out? spend weeks in your pj's eating ice cream? plot ways in which to kill him? down vodka and drown your sorrows hoping he'll realise what a shit he was and change his mind? Well if you're like Sophie Calle, you get even..

I received an email telling me it was over.
I didn't know how to respond.
It was almost as if it hadn't been meant for me.
It ended with the words, "Take care of yourself."
And so I did.
I asked 107 women (including two made from wood and one with feathers),
chosen for their profession or skills, to interpret this letter.
To analyze it, comment on it, dance it, sing it.
Dissect it. Exhaust it. Understand it for me.
Answer for me.
It was a way of taking the time to break up.
A way of taking care of myself.

I know it's pretty impossible to miss the crazy weather, but what about the crazy clouds? I initially had intended on doing my project this year on clouds, but somehow I have ended up stalking people...

helen levitt

i am a little bit fond of street art. my lecturers would say that way too many people are jumping on the street art band wagon but what does that matter? not all of those are going to take a picture that affects people like those of helen levitt. i think i admire her because she was so unaware of her ability to capture the seemingly insignificant and beautiful moments in time. she's pretty cool.

for thursday you get three, three photographs of people on benches. for today only you get three. i wouldn't want to ruin the magic of one image a day. but it's kinda been a running theme, these people on benches so i figured, why not? there they are. one out of three wearing ugg boots. two out of three on the phone. three out of three looking quite distressed. again, why sit on a bench? the girl in the final image was actually crying. i don't know her, but i was overcome with empathy for her. i felt i should ask her if she was ok. obviously i didn't. my mummy told me not to talk to strangers. so instead i photograph them.

why do people sit on benches?
i'm not quite sure i understand why you would bother.
why sit on a bench along a roadside when you could actually just be closer to wherever it is that you were going? perhaps this man just got tired. maybe he was waiting on someone. i don't know but i love his sandals though.

little old man and his dog

photographs are the strongest way of seeing the simplest things.

a record of life as it is lived

over familiarity can make us blind to what's really going on around us and for this reason i decided to observe the individual in their daily lives, unbeknown to them, exposing their private life-passing days, intimate situations, insignificant street scenes, capturing their true character and not what they think the camera wants.
